Travel the World: Moldova
Our featured country this month is Moldova, officially the Republic of Moldova. It is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe situated between Ukraine and Romania, and very close to the Black Sea. It is considered a parliamentary republic with a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government. The climate is moderate winters and warm summers.
One of AAG’s very own Outreach Coordinators Mariana is from Moldova and had this to say:
Moldova is a small and relatively unknown country in Eastern Europe. Sandwiched between two of its more recognized neighbors, Romania and Ukraine, Moldova was formed in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union. Famous throughout Europe for its delicious wines, food and hardworking people. While not known to most of the world, Moldovans, such as myself, take a lot of pride in being from such a small, mysterious country. We value family, independence and hard work and we always welcome visitors with open arms. To me, this is what it means to be Moldovan.
