July is National Picnic Month
National Picnic month is when we celebrate the love of being outside and enjoying each other’s company by having a nice relaxing picnic. It’s a time to celebrate the open air, nature, and all it has to offer us.
In contemporary usage, a picnic can be defined simply as a pleasure excursion at which a meal is eaten outdoors, ideally taking place in a beautiful landscape. Picnics are often family-oriented but can also be an intimate occasion between two people, or large get-togethers like company and church picnics.
Here are a few recommendations for you to host a picnic for all of your employees:
Organize outdoors games and event for employees to play.
Popular games include:
- Horseshoes
- Ring Toss
- Waterballon fights
- Toss the Egg
Make it a potluck picnic where employees bring a dish native to their home country.
Popular American dishes include:
- Hot dogs
- Hamburgers
- Fried chicken
- Watermelon
- Potato salad
- Cheese platters
- Sandwiches
Make it a movie night, rent a big screen and host an outdoor movie night picnic.
Turn your picnic into a volunteer event. Contact your local park and recs dept. to organize a “clean up the park” day. Follow that up with a picnic to reward your employees who joined in on the work.
