#FauxPas Friday: Nice As?
Welcome to another Friday and another funny story about misunderstandings between people even though they are speaking the same language! Today’s short and sweet entry comes from Work Experience participant Alexandra who is working as a Chef on Hayman Island.
Alexandra’s #Fauxpas Friday
Her first conversation with the front desk clerk at the hostel went something like this: “When I had finished checking in at the hostel the woman at reception said “sweet as” and I thought she said “sweet ass” so I gave her a confused look and said “thank you??” For those of you not familiar with Ausie/NZ slang “sweet as” is often used in place “good” or “OK”.
